Field Notes: Falltime in Banff
Golden larches, quieter trails and new ways to explore the Canadian Rockies.
Fall has a way of making her presence known in Banff. It starts inconspicuously with crisp mornings, cooler evenings, and days that fall to night sooner than you’d like. Before we know it, the larch trees turn from green to gold across the national park, a sight worthy of the trip alone. With the change in season, the mountains feel quieter, with fewer people on the trails, and more wildlife to witness.
There are more than 2,500 square miles of protected wilderness surrounding Rimrock Banff, within a UNESCO World Heritage site. That’s a lot of ground to cover. Thankfully, our Pathfinders make it easy.
